This page collects images and useful hints related to my modding experience. My first project was
really simple, but the ongoing one is quite ambitious: a full plexiglass cabinet housing two motherboards... If you want to know more,
please go on reading this page!
This was my first attempt in light case moddding. I was going to overclock my good P!!! 700 and I wanted to
add some additional fans to lower the internal temperature. Even if it was a big case, it was packed with a FD, two HDs, a DVD, a CD-RW
and a lot of PCI cards. So I bought a new 300W PSU for the motherboard and IDE devices and planned to use the old PSU for the fans and an
external ethernet hub. I've added three 80x80 fans (two on the back side and one on the front side) and a cheap two-fan hdd cooler placed
between the DVD and the CD-RW. As you can see in the image on the right, there was no external restyling but for the power LED replaced
with a blue high-intensity one and the self-made fanbus.
The main issue was to find enough space for the additional PSU. After some attempts, I've decided to move the HD cage and place it just
behind the optical units near the rear fans; with this trick I was able to fix the PSU on the front side of the cabinet.
The last (and longest) step was the fanbus. My idea was to have the possibility to switch off the fans and supply them with
both 5V and 12V in order to control the total noise. During this phase I found very helpful the Guide section at
Virtual-Hideout; collecting
some ideas here and there I put down an electrical scheme on a piece of paper, bought some LEDs, switches and wires, resulting in the following creature:

The leftmost switch controls the auxiliary PSU and a high-intensity blue LED; the other three switches control the two-fan hdd cooler, the rear
fans and the front fan. As you can see, I made a wide use of connectors in order to simplify the cabling and to keep the case clean and ordered.
Finally, a detail of the finished work.... BTW, the stickers with the installed OSes and the CPU inside are my work too!!!
