La seconda metà del '400, dopo l'invenzione del cristallo, fu un buon periodo per il vetro decorato a Venezia. Ma i vetri smaltati e dorati, e poi dal 1535 anche quelli decorati a punta di diamante, si fecero a Venezia in tutto il '500.Alcuni decoratori portarono la loro arte all'estero, in particolare ad Hall in Tirolo e nelle Fiandre. L'inventario di una vetreria muranese del 1578 cita vetri cilindrici smaltati con simboli araldici, oggetti dorati e bacini e cestelle con figure (probabilmente a freddo). Ci sono anche quadretti decorati a freddo, tecnica molto usata nella seconda metà del '500.
In the 2nd half of XVth century, after the invention of crystal, glass decoration had a very bright period in Venice. During all the XVIth century golden and enamelled muranese glass, and, from about 1535, also diamond-point engraved glass were made. Some decorators took their craft abroad, in particular to Hall in Tyrol and to the Flanders.
An inventory of a muranese factory taken in 1578 reports several cylindrical glass enamelled with heraldic symbols, several golden objects and some basins and small baskets with figures (probably cold worked). It reports also some small pictures with cold painted figures, a technique that was very used in the 2nd half of XVIth century.
