In Australia some classic types of food are:

-sausage rolls, pasties
-meat pies
-hot dogs
-chips and tomato sauce

This set is the kind of food that you would find at the snack shop or milkbar. Food doesn’t really change from state to state.

BARBECUE or B.B.Q, introduced in the 20th century, is one of the most popular social events for the Australians.

When someone asks you “come over to the barbie tonigth?” you’re intended to spend time with friends or relatives and to eat the classic barbecue meat of: steak (thick meat cooked on the barbecue with or without marinade) sausages, onion (to eat with your sausages) chicken (marinated in a whole lot of different ways...)

MORNING TEA 11.00 a.m: at school or at work.

Many people get up late on Saturday and Sunday and have BRUNCH (brakefast and lunch).
For brunch they eat pancakes, toast, bacon and eggs, drink hot or cold chocolate, tea......

LUNCH isn’t important in Australia. School lunch consists in sandwiches (cheese or meat), a small snack(bar of chocolate....),a piece of fruit and for drink a coca, fruit juice.

DINNER changes from family to family. The classic dinner is:
fried chops with boiled potatoes
broccoli, carrots and tomato
sauce, Rosella brand
The typical Australian food is fish-and-chips. They are fried in batter.
The fish come from the sea, rivers or lakes.
They eat also scallops and crab stick with Rosella tomato sauce or tartare sauce (lemon, mayonnaise and herbs)

Wine:1900’s emigrants brought grapes plant from their countries (Italy, France).

MULTICULTURAL FOOD

If you go to a shopping center you can buy all these types of food:
Italian
Indian
Chinese
Taiwanese
Mediterranean and Greek food.

There are also fast-food like Mc Donald‘s, Nando’s and also the Subway.
