MUSIC IN AUSTRALIA

The song below is the Australian anthem: “Advance Australia Fair”, that was proclaimed the Australian National anthem on the 19th April 1984. These are the lyrics:

ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR

Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free,
We've golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia fair.

CHORUS

In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia Fair."

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We'll toil with hearts and hands
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who've come across the seas
We've boundless plains to share,
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia fair.

CHORUS

In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia Fair."

CONTEMPORARY MODERN MUSIC
Between the 60s and 70s pub music was born. In the 60s pub closed at 6 oclock p.m., instead in 70s between 11 p.m. and midnight.

From the 80s new pubrock groups were born like ACDC. ACDC shored by John Farnham, midnight oil (1990) and Cold Chisel (1983).

Then in Australia we find country music and with it the western music develops. The most famous singer at this type of music is Kasey Chambers. In the 80s Iuxs Splitenz is one of the most important singers.

During these periods in Australia other types of music were being born; in fact in the 80s with Micheal Jeakson spread Hip-Hop (that had a great success).

With other singers and divisions the rap was born (a very rhythmic kind of music that became very popular among young people ), also in the same period Bea Ste Boys became the most important division. Kayle Minogue instead became one of the most famous singers of the 90s. In the same period the out poor dance parties and the nightclubs were born.
