SEEED
'New
Dubby Conquerors'
Dancehall
in German? Hm?!
In effects on the first the idea could leave us perplexed , but
listening to the disk of debut of these Seeed the same idea to the fine
one does not there seem then very bizarre.
On the other hand, a lot of you will know already the German
outift, considered the success that obtained in all Europe their recent
single ‘Water Pumpee’, realized in company of Anthony B, of whose
‘Waan Back’ is in practice the remake.
This ‘New Dubby Conquerors’ is their debut album, a work that
leaves to shine through in some parts a considerable talent and leaves
to foresee big things for this group constituted from quite 11 (!)
elements, between singer, deejays and musicians.
The album is opened with ‘Dancehall Caballeros’ a piece
hardocore ragga with everything the cards in rule to split in any
dancehall and… yes, sung in German!
Not badly really. Much the same can be said for the ska of ‘Pope Noah’, piece from the taste roots
sung in English and enriched by intense vocal harmonies, so like
‘Psychedelic Kingdom’. While
the listening continues we
notice that one of the points of force of the group is the wise use
of some effects and of the sampling, as well as the ability and
inventive with whose are
made reinterpretations of
the classic reggae like ‘The Tide is high’ of Joh Holt, or the
riddim of ‘Police & Thieves’ of Junior Marvin on which is based
their strong ‘We Seeed’. We
got to say that not always
their reggae dancehall sprayed of Hip Hop works so to the large one and
in fact here we find some pieces of routine in this collection .
Little badly, because
the Seeed already has passed the exam for
what pertains me, thanks to the cited big tunes!!
