Outdoor pictures on a DSLR

Also for outdoor tests I used my D100 @ ISO 200, NEF files with "low" in-camera sharpening, Auto WB and Auto Tone Compensation.

The following images show the behaviour of the two lenses in outdoor photography.

In the first field test, I took a picture of a building in Rome, with both lenses set at 18 mm and f/11:

The 100 % crops showed very little differences between the two lenses, with a slightly warmer/magenta color rendition of the 18-35 zoom.

The following pictures shows the main building of the biggest Italian oil company (ENI): the pictures were taken at 24 mm focal length, and f/10.

Again, the difference in sharpness was subtle, but the 18-35 exhibited, IMO, a slightly larger contrast and a slightly larger sharpness in the corners.
