Budapest is the capital city of Hungary and the country's principal political, cultural, commercial, industrial and transportation centre. The city had 1,7 million inhabitants in 2007, down from a mid-1980s peak of 2.1 million. Budapest became a single city occupying both banks of the river Danube with the amalgamation on 17 November 1873 of right-bank (west) Buda and Óbuda (Old Buda or Alt-Ofen) together with Pest on the left (east) bank. Photographic gear I used: all pictures were taken with my Nikon F801 and three Nikkor lenses (AF ED 18-35 mm f/3.5-4.5, AF 85 mm f/1.8, AI-S 75-150 mm f/3.5 E). Film: Fujichrome Velvia 50 and Kodak E100 S. All images © Riccardo Polini |
