Roberto's Web Page
This numismatic site is entirely devoted to non paper banknotes collecting, or, as they are called, polymer notes
WHY THIS SITE?
"More than these, my son, require not. Of making many books there is no end;
and much study is an affliction of the flesh"
Ecclesiastes 12, 12
Numismatic catalogues are published in the order of hundreds, but those really well done are few. So my insider thought was: why should I produce a new catalogue and thus create a new expense for the collector? My first idea went to the NET, which I consider the most reliable encyclopedia of the present-future. My commitment is to provide collectors and surfers with a FREE source of knowledge and a stimulation for their brains. For me collecting banknotes is the most relaxing hobby in the world.
Plastic banknotes have been produced with
the obvious purpose of discouraging counterfeiting. Briefly, in
the three year period 1980-83 American Bank Note Company produced
test notes on Tyvek© for Haiti, Costa Rica and Isle of Man. For
unknown reasons this project failed, but it was a milestone in
the production of banknotes on non paper substrate. A few
examples of the Tyvek notes are in collector albums. In 1988
Australia Reserve Bank patented a plastic material: Guardian©
this material has achieved perfection in the plastic money field.
In a word, this idea has worked excellently. Note Printing
Australia (a subsidiary of RBA) used the material, and now prints
and supplies banknotes for Australia, New Zealand and a number of
other nearby countries.. At the present time the growth of its
market has also reached Europe and South America.

How much does a complete collection of polymer notes cost? US$ 2,500,
more or less... So, as you can see, it is easy to complete the
collection without being a millionaire!
Since I own the complete collection of all notes, I have put it
them all on display on this site with the goal of making public
view on this site. What I want to become is a landmark on this
subject. Banknotes displayed are in the order of 150, say 10 Mb of space (all have been scanned individually with a HP ScanJet
5300C) at 67 dpi in jpeg format.
I am the only owner of these banknotes, and they are registered with their serial numbers, so there is no copyright on the scans. Of course no-one can claim IN ANY CASE the possession of these notes.
