TO BE – SIMPLE PRESENT

Il verbo ESSERE ha tre voci: 

  • AM (per la I persona singolare),

  • IS (per le terze persone singolari), 

  • ARE (per tutte le altre persone)

 

La FORMA AFFERMATIVA di to Be si costruisce, pertanto, come segue:

SOGGETTO + VERBO ESSERE + PREDICATO

I am italian
He, She, It is italian
We, You, They are italian

Forme contratte: I’m, ‘s, ‘re

La FORMA NEGATIVA si costruisce:

SOGGETTO + VERBO ESSERE + NOT

I am not italian
He, She, It is not italian
We, You, They are not italian

Forme contratte: I’m not, isn’t, aren’t

La forma INTERROGATIVA si costruisce:

VERBO ESSERE + SOGGETTO + PREDICATO

Am I italian?
Is He, She, It italian?
Are We, You, They italian?

 

La forma INTERROGATIVO-NEGATIVA 
(o INTERRO-NEGATIVA)

si costruisce come segue:

  • Alla I persona : Verbo Essere + Soggetto +Not
  • Nelle altre persone la negazione Not si unisce al verbo contraendosi in N’T, ossia:

Am I italian?
Isn’t He, She, It italian?
Aren’t We, You, They italian?

Risposte brevi:
Are you? Yes, I am; Is she? Yes, she is; Are they? No, they aren’t.

 

TO HAVE – SIMPLE PRESENT

Il verbo AVERE ha due voci: HAS (per le terze persone singolari)
ed HAVE (per tutte le altre persone)

La FORMA AFFERMATIVA di to Have si costruisce, pertanto, come segue:

SOGGETTO + VERBO + PREDICATO

I have got a dog
He, She, It has got a dog
We, You, They have got a dog

Forme contratte: ’ve, ‘s

Le FORME INTERROGATIVA e NEGATIVA del verbo AVERE si costruiscono come quelle di to Be, pertanto:

  • Nella forma INTERROGATIVA si antepone il verbo al soggetto;
  • Nella forma NEGATIVA si aggiunge la negazione NOT al verbo

Nella lingua parlata si usa spesso la forma INTERROGATIVA-NEGATIVA e il verbo HAVE è quasi sempre accompagnato da GOT (rafforzativo)

FORMA NEGATIVA

I have not got a dog

He, She, It has not got a dog

We, You, They have not got a dog

 

Forme contratte: haven’t, hasn’t

FORMA INTERROGATIVA

Have I got a dog?

Has He, She, It got a dog?

Have We, You, They got a dog?
