*Francine Renée Hall*

From Chicago

Born on Bastille Day, 14 July 1952

Philosophy on Education: If you work hard and get a good GPA and GRE you won't have to pay a dime for both undergraduate and graduate work. Alumni of University of Ilinois, later Teaching Assistant and Lecturer--taught English Composition and Literature. Later did the same at various universities and colleges around Chicago. But Beware! English is NOT profitable or wanted in today's "sound-byte" economy. Also worked as typesetter and researcher: published articles on Chaucer and the Christian Crusades. Volunteer work in the now-defunct VISTA progam at Standing Rock Indian Reservation (Sioux), in Fort Yates, North Dakota.

First exposure to classical music: As a wee teenager I cleaned the apartment and did household chores to the strains of Bach Cantatas No. 80 and 140 on Archiv Produktion, which, alas, never surfaced again. Also blasted Gabrieli's San Marco extravaganza with E. Power Biggs and the Texas Boys Choir which could be heard a block away.

Favorite music: A lot. However, if I had to go desert island, Ockeghem, Dowland, Bach, Buxtehude, Purcell and Handel are all way up there. So are The Yardbirds, Jimi Hendrix, Tim Buckley, and Stan Getz. I'm sure I'm leaving out a whole lot more!

I have no philosophy because sticking to only one perception of reality creates tunnel vision.

Character: Idealistic, deeply spiritual and empathizes with the poor. No"elitism" for me!

Religion: Physics

Desire: to meet an advanced intelligent alien society from outer
space. Also want to see racism and poverty end on planet earth.

Biggest musical influence in my entire life: When PBS played the Ponnelle/Harnoncourt productions of Monteverdi's three operas in 1980, which was further enhanced by being simulcast on WFMT in Chicago, which meant I could blast the music through my stereo and hence, became the first-ever MTV event in musical history.
