Perchè possono essere considerati i rappresentanti
del Movimento Giovanile del '68, e gli ispiratori di un nuovo modo di fare
musica. Certo saranno stati anche un grande evento commerciale ma ritengo
che questo debba considerarsi più una conseguenza del loro apprezzamento che
quanto indotto da una qualsiasi campagna pubblicitaria. Con questo voglio
dire che i Beatles sono piaciuti a tanta gente non certo per i meriti di
qualche discografico ma piuttosto per quello che raccontavano attraverso le
loro canzoni. Molte istanze di rinnovamento avanzate dal Movimento, infatti,
trovano eco nei loro testi ed il loro modo di proporsi come musicisti
diventerà il nuovo modello per tutte le future rock-band. Rottura degli
schemi "dei benpensanti" a vantaggio della naturalezza e della riscoperta
dei valori universali:
