ISLAND OF LINOSA
This is the first island we come to in the Straits of Sicily, and constitutes, together with Lampedusa and the desert rock Lampione, the Pelagian archipelago proper. Known in ancient times as Aetusa (Algusa), it is obviously of volcanic origin. Its highest hill, Mount Vulcano, measures 195 meters. The only town of any size is Linosa, a typical agricultural and fishing settlement.
