The types who come expecting nothing more from us than that we give our utmost for the two hours that we spend on stage. That voice reaches us every night and to my ears it currently sounds like a deafening roar of approval. Here we go for the last gig of the tour ! Different feelings are going round and round in my head ... but for sure I need a stop ... a tour is a special experience , full of emotions , strong sensatiion , hard and great travelling around , long waitings at doors , meet ups with great people able to share all this travel around many places following a special music .... great experiences and great memories in my heart ...
PEOPLE , FRIENDS !!! ... for sure sharing this experience is one of the best things of my personal tour ... a special thank U to : Paola - Pollon my '' travelmate'' during so many gigs ( ciao Lontra !!! eheheheh ) , Dany - simplydany ( ok ok a questo punto dobbiamo condividere altri gigs visto che son in debito di una famosa foto !!! accidenti alle batterie ! ) and Dany - the black D ( ciao lesionata ! meglio su 4 ruote che su 2 ali? ) and to all the italian tribe that I met travelling around : Max , Lara , Claudia and friends , Betty&Luca , Rosy , Giuseppe , Felix and family, Biagio ,Raffa , Franz , David and David, Alberto , Luca , Lele , the Blow Ups , Tizzi , Manu , Fabio , Enrico , Stefano , Gianluca , Marco , Pierluigi ... and so so many others ... ( senza di voi non sarebbe stata la stessa cosa ! ) a special thank U to the fans '' all around the world '' ... would be too long to name all the special persons I met but everyone knows how special he / she was !!! .... I'll be there with U !!!! ... again !
After a visit of the city together with Pollon , we take a look at the venue and we can meet the first fans with the white t-shirts : the German tribe , Lore and Sylvia and Bruce of course ! The view of the castle is amazing and the day is a sunny day even if a little bit cold ... in the park we meet some fans from Belgium and with them we can test the way to the stage that seems to be a long and hard one ... what's
more there are two doors ...
here we go for the waiting at doors ... and more and more people are coming ... like Bart and Erwin ... Barbara and Andreas , Lourdes ...
and then a long run to reach the front line ... well to be a fan U need also a good training .... !!! I can have a good place at Charlie's side , on the front ... again ! The war zone !

After a great performance of the band El Presidente , the Simple Minds came to the stage ! Great to share the gig with Pollon , Alberto , Sylvia and with the great tribe from Spain , Lourdes , Moses and wife and the '' flag man '' ... really good gig , band a little bit tired , Jim says that it is always sad the end of the tour ... great audience !

It is always a great emotional moment when the first notes of A & K begin ... a song reaching the deep inside ... and as I used to say ... things U feel so much can give U joy and good feelings and at the same time a feeling running along your heart like a knife .. so strong that can hurt U in a positive way ... and at this time the feeling is even stronger .. another chapter of the book of brilliant things finds its end ... its a thing we said in Avenches ...
but more and more white pages are waiting to be written ...
After the gig I can meet Dany and the sparkling Nikki and friends ( great to see U again after Newcastle ! ) , Olix and family , Andrew... and more and more people ... Pollon, Alberto and me leave the venue to go to drink and eat something ... I cannot say bye bye to all the friends , but maybe it is better like that ... on the way to the hotel a fan from Belfast stops us to say hallo .. he is really enthusiastic to meet some italian people after meeting people from all over Europe ... this is a nice end of the night ... goodnight Edinburgh ... we have only a few hours to sleep .. wake up at 4 a.m. and then the flights back to Italy : Edinburgh - Stansted - Trieste ...

Review : Dancing on the roses

Going to Monaco was quite a last minute decision , and it was really a good one ! I left home with Sabina , Roberta and Amina , going by car '' coast to coast '' crossing all north Italy . A sunny and crowded Montecarlo said hallo to us and we just had the time for a short visit of the port with the '' usual '' big boats ... then I realized that Ollix , Chantal , Mumu and Olix sister were in our same hotel ready to go to the venue . I had a little trouble since our tickets arrived at my home while we were on the way to Montecarlo ! So that we had to go the venue in advance to see if everything was OK , and it was since my name was in the list ! After having dinner in the port with a really nice view , together with Roberto we went to the venue . We had a good table right on the front of the '' higher level'' of the venue . After saying hallo to Olix and family having their champagne ;-) ( hallo Bill ! ) , we had a look all around the venue , and I was able to see some members of the crew and the great mr. Pollard .

Then the gig began and I could stay at my table only for the first 3 songs , then I went on front , on the right side of the stage very near Mel and Eddie ! ( Thanks Olix for taking those images of me during the gig ! )
I had just a little regret that I left home my best photo camera , since I thought that pictures weren't allowed like in 2002 ! Anyway I had really a great fun , dancing and singing . Jim came to shake hands with me and he could recognize my familiar face even when the lights came on me while I was at my table , and so did Mark !
Well it is a thing to discover if it was a pleasure or a nightmere to see me once again ! After going near the stage I had a good view of Mel , that was never so near and he smiled at me . The stage was full of roses in a short time and the audience got on fire , in spite of the formal and unusual place for a Simple Minds gig !
I have to say that it was really different from 2002 gig in the same place and the atmosphere was really hot ! After the first songs most of the people standed up to dance !
Great gig and it was not so bad to be in a '' confortable '' venue , not having to queue to be on front , not having trouble for weather and so on !

After the gig , only a few people were waiting near the artists entrance . While waiting , Fred from the crew came to say hallo to me and we had a nice chat about his life and about the band . Then Jim came out , but he was really in a hurry , since his Japanese girlfriend was waiting for him to leave the venue by car . Anyway he had a few minutes to take some pictures with us and to say hallo .
A full moon in a sky full of stars said goodnight to us .
The day after I took a flight from Nice to Venice , since I had to be home in time to go to work at night . My friends spent some more time in Monaco to visit the place .

| Fans all around the world again in Taormina - We travel ! |
After 4 years , here we go again ! We travel again to Taormina for one more amazing gig in a perfect location , the Teatro Greco . Difficult to explain my feelings at the beginning of this travel . For sure the 2002 Tao experience was something special , a chapter of my book of brilliant things that will be a gem , forever ! But for sure a gig in Tao is a special one at any time ! After my flight Trieste - Roma - Catania , I am able to meet Paola and we reach Taormina by bus and then by cable way , we can check in at Villa Bianca , our hotel in Mazzarò . After meeting Daniela and Arianna we go for a walk to the center of Taormina . On the way we can meet some familiar faces : Peter , Franz , Sandra , Tina , Rosy , Giuseppe , Luca & Betty , Felice and family , Erwin , Olix ... and the wonderful streets of Taormina are like a warm hug for the heart , once more the magic feeling is growing inside and breathing this atmosphere is something unbelieveble ... colours , people , sun , sparkling sea ... Italy !
The streets are full of Italian flags , to remind that we won the football championship ...

A great emotion is growing inside on the way to Teatro Greco , and meeting more and more friends ( David , Kerstin , Lourdes and the 2 german fans I met in Berlin, Cara , Pierluigi ... and many many others ) makes this feeling even more strong . The Teatro Greco at sunset is an amazing view , with all the lights of the town , and the sea , down the hill...the stage is wonderful , with the Womad banners and as soon as we find our places , we can realize that the stage is really not high , and that the band will be very close to the audience ! I am sure that Jim is very happy to be here and that he'll be able to share this experience with us , just one heart beating , band and audience ... and the music able to create never ending emotions ... breathing the air of the night , I can feel why I am here , in this special place , following something I recognized as a part of my heart and soul , long long time ago ...
when the first notes of the intro begin , a sense of fusion runs in my veins , and it is wonderful to see all the happy faces all around , expecially the familiar ones . On the steps at the back of the Teatro Greco some banners are visible , the one of the stuff of Villa Angela :il nostro cuore vola sempre con te , your staff . The one of Olix ; Brussels love U ... really nice to see all the people ! And Jim leaves the stage for a full immersion in the audience , reaching the back steps of it !
What a gig ! Difficult to explain how 2 hours of music can make U happy , can make U feel life runining inside , can reach your deep feelings ...

Nice to meet all the members of the band at the end of the gig , and to be able to speak to some of them for a couple of minutes . We can take some nice pics ( uhm nice shirt Jim ! Ok I cannot tell U nothing about its '' Hawaii style '' , since your mother bought it ! anyway I am happy U left home your white shoes ) . A few pictures with the great mr. Pollard , able to create the fascinating lights on the stage ... and we leave the Teatro Greco .
Sicily is a place that reaches all your senses and can create a feeling that is difficult to forget . A gig in this place is something wrapped around heart and soul ... for sure it was the best gig I never attended ... thanks to Sicily , Womad ... and to some special people that made this be a perfect experience ... a special thank U to : '' il maestro'' and his wife , and Sandro...!!!

Before italian gigs : What's it gonna take to make a dream survive? |
|
In a few days my Italian tour will begin , after 9 gigs all over Europe .
An overflow of ideas , feelings , bad and good sensations are in my heart and mind . The Italian
Gigs were supposed to be a gem in my personal tour , because Simple Minds are going to play in my ‘’home’’ , because I am going to meet lots of friends sharing my passion . What’s more Simple MInds are coming to play just one hour from my hometown , in Pordenone , and I involved lots of from the place where I work everyday , where I live, inviting them to come to the gig , to make them understand why it is so special . After 9 gigs on the front , living a full immersion experience ,I feel a little bit tired : tired of long waiting times at doors , of cold weather , rain , snow , tired of airports , tired of bad circumstances such as deleted flights . Yes , when the first notes of the intro begin , every bad feeling fades away and you know why you are there , why you did crazy things to be there in spite of weather , in spite of people that cannot understand what gives you the force , the inspiration to do that .
While planning one more Taormina experience I had the chance to think about it and to share with other people our thoughts about ‘’ will it be the same as in 2002?’’ ... I guess that in 2002 there was a magic atmosphere that will be difficult to create again , lots of things to discover , people to meet , a magic town , a magic venue , the wish to know the band , to be able to share some thoughts with them ...now some people and even myself are wondering if we still have the magic ...
We opened some closed doors gig by gig , we wrote so many pages of our book of brilliant things and here we are again ... in black and white ... more pages of our book that must find colours ...
nothing will never be the same , that doesn’t mean it cannot be special again ... just different ...
I am used to say that during our life we discover many and many times that Santa Klaus doesn’t exist , like a child that discovers ‘’ real life ‘’ losing some magic but becoming more conscious about things and life ... oh well , in our adult life we have a different number of Santa Klaus to be revealed , losing time by time an astonishing way to see life .... Being able to feel the magic again and again depends on how many Santa Klaus we have to reveal anymore ... I fear the day when I have no more magic feelings in my heart , no more dreams , no more attemptings to reach the moon going to the higher mountain ...no more lights able to make me shine because of my deep feelings ...
music is one special thing able to do that , able to run inside my heart and soul and able to make me shine ... and Simple Minds music is a special one , I don’t only listen to Simple Minds music , but it comes out from what I am , it isn’t simply around me ... after more than 20 years it has been a part of my life , the soundtrack of many and many experiences ... and I really hope that nothing will be able to make me lose the magic feeling I have for it .
Music , good feelings and the chance to share them with all the people able to see what I can see
are some of the things able to make me breath life ...
I think that things U feel so much , can give you at the same time good and bad feelings ... sometimes an overflow of feelings to breath is really too much ...
so that , at one stop of my personal tour , following ‘’ my music ‘’ I was thinking to give up ... to run away from the front , trying not to open more and more secret doors ...not to know more and more things ... things I have inside , like zipped files ... and music is the password to open them , sometimes , things that are outside and that sometimes it is better not to discover .
During the gigs I tried to capture the magic through my images , and I created a site of images , because I wished they could be able to let other people know my feelings ...
Then I realized that some people really appreciated my ‘’ work ‘’ , not a professional one , but done with all of my heart ... I was happy for that , and I was happy when my photos where used in some ‘’ official ‘’ sites ... but at the same time I didn’t want to come out from my images , to be too visible ... like when U are on front line and U don’t think that the lights are on you , U just want to enjoy music , to be able to keep the magic in your heart ...
Now , just a couple of days before the italian tour ... what I hope : don’t make me lose the magic feeling ... don’t make me feel that I am at the party without being invited , but just because I spent money for the ticket ... let me feel a part of this thing ... and don’t think I am a criminal if I try to steal an image for my book of brilliant things ...I just need colours and lights for it ...
and U cannot buy them together with the ticket , but just try to find them opening one more door , living the live experience , sharing it ... I am happy to begin one more travel , but at the same time I hope that this little stone on my heart can disappear ... someone wrote ‘’ with a little help from my friends ‘’ ...

| February 2006 diary .
Well after the gigs in Glasgow , London ( 2 ones ) , Amsterdam , Stockholm and Berlin , and the lost gig in Brussels I’ll try to write some impressions .
I was really happy to begin my personal tour , expecially after knowing about the set list , and let me say once more how long I was waiting for listening to Seeing Out the Angel live ! A deep and fashinating song I was able would have been able to create the same great feeling of Chelsea girl 2003 , something so sensual and so touching heart ans soul . And it was like that ! Once more great lights effect drop you in a magic atmosphere and you are captured , heart , mind , soul and all senses by music and by the vision of stage , like audience and band could breath in the same breath , like having one heart beating at the sound of music. Sound and fascination ... seeing out the angel singing fascination . Good set list , not a common one ,not done only to capture in an easy way the audience , in fact songs like ghostdancing were not performed , and a large part of the new album was in the set list . Good songs from the past discography that could have been written at present days , an uptodate sound , a great mix of old and new songs , and a sort of up-and –down , with songs done to dance and sing and songs done to stay there , hypnotized and captured by a special atmosphere . Good choice to promote the new album , but also to make a great gift to the audience that loves Simple Minds from the beginning of times . Old and new , with a present way to be , to show that Simple Minds aren’t only Alive and Kicking but that they are a band able to write and perform good songs also at present . Also the ‘’old ‘’ songs performed aren’t a nostalgic way to perform and cover themselves but a way to show how their sound is always a ‘’ today ‘’ sound .
The new album is even better live , and if Mel is the best drummer in the world , for sure Simple Minds are the best live band in the world ! I was very curious to listen to Dolphins live , since IMO isn’t an easy song for stage , but I was amazed by how beautiful it can be live , even better than album version , it can really wrap you in a warm hug ,when performed live and shake your feelings .
Once more it was great to share the experience with friends from all over Europe , and to travel with some great people like Paola and black D ...
So flight after flight , flu after flu ( waiting at doors has really bad effects and people are going to think I am affected by chichen desease ! ) here I am with more and more things to add to my book of brilliant things .
Oh well some notes about my image hunting . In our sosimpleminded forum , the always great Donna began a thread about taking photos and so on , and some days ago , before going to Berlin I replied like that :well ... for me taking pictures is a hobby like music is .
I can tell U that even taking pics , I don't lose a single moment of the live experience .
Uhm ,even when I don't take pictures , I cannot jump and dance so much ( getting to old ? ) ... oh well to travel , to wait at doors, expecially when U left home after a night in hospital isn't so easy ...

seriously speaking... I really don't dance so much during gigs...
like I did in the past ... expecially during these first ones , where I have to capture any single note...
several times some people wrote me that when they weren't able to be at a gig , from some images and from a recording they were able to live someway the experience.
Well I live the gig , I breath the gig...and sometimes the live experience is really too much , feeling music, listening to music, sharing music, full senses involved ... an overflow of sensations
and sometimes have a look all around at the happy faces...at people dancing..
and U'll feel joy.
Maybe my best pics of Amsterdam , are the ones of the audience... , '' let me se your hands'', happy faces...
I received some phone calls from the very special Mark-C-moon during Brussels gig , you know I lost that gig since my flight was cancelled because of fog , and I can tell U that to listen to that songs made me so happy , not for the gig itself.. BUT for the wonderful Mark, that sharing music with me , made me feel he was sorry I wasn't there .
My point of view is that anyone lives a gig in his way ... and as far as is able to respect other people ... must do what makes him happy...
The only thing I hate is when people around speak too much .. while I'd like to let music come into my head and heart...or when people too drunk too enjoy the gig push U in a hard way ---BUT I was NEVER annoied by people dancing
or singing.. around me... on the contrary it was a great view...
well , I always try not to raise the camera not to spoil other people view...
I can understand your point of view ...
and I also am of the opinion that a gig must be enjoyed when U are there...
maybe what is making so special this thing... is the fact we are here
to speak , to share opinions... the chance we have to meet...
Let me add something more ... for me a live experience is a complete experience , not only something to listen to ... but also a visual way to be .. the band on stage , all the performance , the lights are a form of ‘’ live art ‘’, and I really would like to be able to capture the feeling .
I often asked myself how the band see all of us in the audience , and sometimes I think I am not ‘’ visible ‘’ , but just one face among other ones , and I guess that they don’t really care about me .
But I had some experiences , good ones , when I realized that when Jim speaks about familiar faces , he really means that we are visible .... and has a caressing glance , a wink , a ciao , a hi for anyone . Mel very often smiles to let us know that he recognized us ... and mr. Shalalalalala’ Eddy used to joke with us , very often too . Oh well , and Charlie ? how to understand his smile ?
So I guess to be something like a photo camera with arms , seen from the stage ... but believe me , there is also a never ending smile behind this ! So , please forgive me if I try to capture something of the show ... a friend of the italian forum called some of my photos , singing photos ... even if I know that one must be there to live in a complete way a show , and there is no way to let it live for a longer time , sometimes we'd like that good things could live forever , but feelings,
sensations are a fragile thing , and cannot be closed in a box to make them live forever... because when U open the box,, there is nothing...
... and memories , warm memories are all we have ... maybe that’s why I do all I can to be there , more and more times ... when U realize how life can change in a second , and maybe U couldn’t be able to appreciate small , great things like music and good feelings , U appreciate more and more something so simple , but so great that is able to make U feel happy inside .
Maybe nothing will never be the same buy I’ll be there ... again ... I hope you’ ll be able to share my feelings .. again ...

The lights have a great part in Simple Minds songs and the lights are a great part of a live show that is a full senses experience in feeling music
Again great lights effects , great B&W atmosphere during that song , great backlights that seem to wrap and pass through the figures on the stage . At this time , more lights from the ground able to create a magic , surrealistic vision . Thanks Mr. Pollard !

Review : It's alright, it's ok,

Strange feelings after coming back home from Berlin gig . I was supposed to share the gig with Paola / Pollon , but due to a flight overbooking problem she couldn’t be there . So after waiting for her at Berlin airport , after a phone call I knew that she was home . Thanks to a perfect
public transports organization I arrived to my hotel . I asked the .lady of the reception the way to Columbiahalle , and when she realized that I was in Berlin only for a concert , she said ‘’ I think U are crazy ‘’ , sometimes I also think I am ! After some time dedicated for a short visit of the center of the city , all by myself , not in my best mood , since I like sharing experiences . I decided to take the way to the venue . I arrived over there at about 04.15 pm , and Silke a german lady was altready there , then also Kerstin and Merve arrived , the only familiar faces I knew . It was a long time to wait for the opening of doors , at 07.00 pm and I it was really cold at about – 02 , – 04 ° C . All the people around were speaking German ( thanks Merve for translating some chats for me ;-) ) and I felt a stranger , what’t more a frozen one !
Ok let’s go inside . Good place in the middle of front row , near Merve .Not a good venue , but good stage , not too high , and quite near .
Good set list , even if I’d have liked to listen to Kiss the Ground .. but more times will come !
In spite of the bad looking venue , the sound was good, expecially Jim’s voice came out in the best
way , very deep and warm . Once more I was fashinated by Seeing Out the Angel and by Dolphins ... they really can reach your deep inside ...amazing how something so good for me is able to hurt my feeling in a positive way . You are listening to music , taking a deep breath , and the feeling is so good , so beautiful that you feel a pain in your heart . Good lights effects . This year I appreciate a lot the effects from the ground . In Verona I’ll be in the gallery ( no front line at this time but seated place ! ) and I am sure I’ll appreciate the complete vision of the stage .
I decided to go walking to the hotel ... with a lot of thoughts in my head ... and a lot of strange feeling as I told at the beginning ... and the main problem was to be alone , not able to share impressions ... in a silent speaking to myself .Short night at hotel ... wake up at 04.00 am ... going to airport by taxi in the desert streets . Let’s go home .

Review : GOING NORTH |

One more gig , at this time going north to spend 3 days in Stockholm . The venue , Cirkus , is in a park . The way to the venue in the silence of the evening in the park with snow is like being in a magic world . After meeting Asa and Patrik , Steve and Andrew , the only familiar faces over there , after the usual waiting at doors , I can have a good place on the right of front line . No supporter act

Good gig , good audience , Jim recognizes me and says : ciao . The stage is really near the front line and I can touch his hand . Well I think that the interaction between band and audience is a way to share the feeling of the gig. People are very friendly and are amazed by my travelling around Europe . My best feelings are during the touching rythm of Colours Fly , during the fascinating Seeing Out the Angel and the full of joy Stranger , my fav one of the new album .
It is cold outside , but inside of the Cirkus the flame keeps on burning ... great to be there .

Review : I'LL BE THERE |

At last in Amsterdam ! The day after coming back from London , one more travel to Brussels for 2 gigs in Belgium and Holland . I went to Treviso airport , were I was able to meet the friend that was going to share this experience with me . But the delusion was so big when they announced that the flight was deleted because of fog .
On the way home we desperately tried to find a way to fly to Brussels , calling flight companies , calling friends able to find on line a solution for us . No way ! So next step was to find a flight to Amsterdam for next day . The day after , one more trip to the airport and we could . at last . go to Amsterdam . Lots of familiar faces at the venue . Stage too high . Good interaction band - fans .

Travelling again for Simple Minds !
I was really excited thinking about this travel to Glasgow after having heard about the previous set lists , since I found it just wonderful expecially with the presence of '' Seeing out the angel '' a song I was alway dreaming to be performed at a gig .
After a train trip to Brescia joining Paola / Pollon , we went by car to Bergamo airport on the way to Glasgow . It was really nice to meet the usual familiar faces at the doors like the german tribe ,
and the sparkle* tribe and people from USA , Holland , UK , Italy ( Enrico , Rosy , Daniela , Claudia ) ... after a hard waiting time at doors and a hard time with security that checked my bag taking away my photo camera ( well , anyway I had one more small camera ... thanks to it I was able to take some pics ) I was able to run to the front ... in spite of the delusion for not having all my photo stuff with me for better results , I was really looking farward to the beginning of the show !
