This version is my intention to port a new browser on AmigaOS3 (68k and PPC classic)
I know that exist a recent porting for AmigaOS 4.0/4.1, but me and other users are able to make a better porting for classic users.
We have to re-design the whole graphic interface to use with Amiga Classic, but in thuth we have glued a painted startmenu like gtk firefox menu to Reaction
style.
We are not able to porting GTK+ on AmigaOS3, but we desire to make this gift.
Currently this alpha version (from grab it seems finished, but it's not this way) lacks many features like javascript and flashplugin is not complete.
Flash plugin is completed to 40% and we start the javascript plugin next year
First releae of AbiWord AmigaOS3
AbiWord porting is almost finished. We have working on it for 2 years, we have start this project in late 2006 and we have finished in these days.
Like NetSurf, we haven't able to port on AmigaOS3 the GTK libraries, but we have used some graphics cheats to gift a GTK gui on AmigaOS.
NetSurf is tested on various hardware and we have an amithlon beta-tester that is very happy of this porting :)
We have to thank this Amiga user because for now he host our simple page on your page.
So:
NetSurf now running on:
Amiga 1200 with 68060@66 Mhz and 128 MB
Amiga 4000 with Cyberstorm PPC 604e/233@266 Mhz and 68060@50 Mhz with 200 MB
Amithlon AMD64 3500+ (2200 mhz) with 1024 MB DDR400
NetSurf run very well in these configurations, but it should be run also on A1200 with no accelerated cpu, but at least 32 MB of RAM.
Of Course it's request more power with flash pages or java application (java application will be available when AmigaOS will have a java virtual machine!!)
AbiWord now running on:
A1200 with Blizzard 1230; 68030@50 Mhz with 32 MB
A1200 with 68060@66 Mhz with 128 MB
A4000 with A3640@25 Mhz with 64 MB
Amithlon on P2@350 Mhz with 128 MB
AbiWord is very light than OpenOffice or Office suite, but on slow Amiga like 68030 or slow 68040 we have noted some general slowdown, but
with amiga model with less of 32 MB of RAM.
We have decide to now speak of our projects that a serious thing is becoming.
NetSurf alpha and AbiWord will be available to download the 1 Jannuary 2009; Good Year Classic Users!!
