This flag was made by Benita Rodriguez and Gregoria De Jesus ( Bonifacio's wife ) upon the request of Bonifacio.

The adoption of the red color on the katipunan flags has origin in the various flags used in all the filipino, moro and malesian area as symbol of war and bravery ; anyway we can't exclude Andres Bonifacio used the red color on flags as a result of the reading of the book :" Les Miserables " by Victor Hugo,in wich it is spoken about the red flags and banners used during : "la Commune de Paris ", one of the first revolutionary riot against the french Monarchy.
