GONFALON OF THE KATIPUNEROS OF MALIBAY, PASAY 1896

This gonfalon was the gonfalon of the Katipunan group of Malibay, Pasay; a red cloth with the masonic triangle and the "eye of God " on it ; below the triangle they placed the following alpha-numeric letters : K 3 K and the name of Malibay, the place where the group was located.

( SUPPOSED ) FIRST FLAG OF THE FILIPINOS, APRIL 1897.

According to some sources In april, 1897, in the Naik Assembly, all the military leaders of the Katipunan decided to adopt a new common flag for all the Filipinos.

This katipunan flag, at present in a private collection in U.S.A It is one of the first sample of flag with the triangle, sun and two stripes.
We can note that many flags and standards of the katipuneros were displayed like gonfalons.

This flag , at present in the collections of the W.P.A.M. -
West Point Academy Museum, U.S.A. is similar to the flag shown before, there are few differences exept the position of the stars.

KATIPUNAN FLAG

This flag was brought back by Oliver Morris, a soldier in the First Washington Volunteer Infantry in 1899.It is made of cotton bunting and is 17 inches wide and 30 inches long.The stripes are black and red with white triangle and a red sun, without stars.
