The National Paleolithic Museum


The completion of this building is very near. It will feature exibition halls, instructional materials, meeting rooms with audio-visuals, a computerized system as well as virtual reconstructions.
The layer provides important data about the then man, his activities outside from the findings of the man's remains.
This paleolithic deposit, 736.000 years old, is well classified as the first of its kind in Europe, for the quality of its reperts and for its excellent state of preservation.

At the very beginning of Corso Marcelli, located next to the Monastic Benedictine Order of the Cloistered Nuns, one can visit:

- The exibition of paleolithic reperts found in the prehistoric camp.
- The archaelogic museum with its stone artifacts dating back to the samnite and roman era.
- The city library Michele Romano with its more than 20.000 volumes and old prints.
