Since always he was fascinated
and captured by the emotional power transmitted by the melodic
pop music and by the grabby lyrics written by the great italian
song writers, in the mid 80’s he gradually begins to write
songs and gradually and nearly unconsciously, to address all his
steps and his choices towards the Italian cities, temple of the
italian authors's song, never the less center of the greatest
singers, places like Firenze, Bologna and Roma..
Nearly looking for an incoming
door for what he considered his world his life’s reason
and serching for a moral and formative support, he enters in contact
with many of the greatest italian singers, and he begins to collaborate
with arrangers and musicians of worldly recognized, which gradually
contibuted to giving technical thickness to his music and his
songs.

In the panorama of Italian pop music
and in particular of the “song of author”, Donato
Scialpi is placed as new proposal and he represents a sweet mix
amongst big author’s lyrics, which denote strong influences
of the historical supporters of the “song of author”
and of the pop italian music, like Luigi Tenco, Bruno Martino,
Francesco De Gregori, Fabrizio De Andre', Paolo Conte, and a simple
and a simple but direct music and harmonies finelly impregnated
of the classic jazz breathed from the arrangers and composers,
whom have collaborated and contributed to the realization of the
songs.
