The Fu school

The Fu school  is perhaps the most complete school that I know. It has its center in the Baguazhang of the  Dragon-Form but it also includes Xingyiquan, Taijiquan (Fu and Sun), Liangyiquan and even Shaolinquan.

(from left to right) Fu Wenlong, Loriano Belluomini, Fu Meilan.

The best student of Yin Fu was Ma Gui. One day, a young man called Fu Zhensong came to see him. This young man had studied with a teacher named Jia Qishan in Henan, but since "pure" Bagua  it is only found  in Beijing, he was routed by the same Jia Qishan to his own teacher (as it seems), Ma Gui.This young man would  become one of the most famous martial artists of the country and he also would made a career in the army where he became known as "the Tiger-General Fu Zhensong" and where he was following the orders of an expert of Wudang sword , the General Li Jinglin. Fu Zhensong  is known for a lot of legendary enterprises but it will be enough to say that toward the end of the years '20 he was one of the so called "Five Tigers going to the South", he was entrusted of the task to  spread the Baguazhang in the southern regions. He definitely settled to Guangzhou where, more times challenged by local champions, he always won them making the Baguazhang famous.

His/her Bagua was after all particular: it is the only one that uses indeed the rotations of the body at the most degree (360 and also 540°) and for this its style has called cyclonic. It divides  in two basic forms , the Yin and the Yang (a softer one and with elements of Taijiquan the former, the latter more brisk) that then  meet in the Longxing Baguazhang or "Dragon Form  ", the same one that the school has made famous with its spinnings, twistings and  penetrations. Fu Zhensong  also developed a two-man set  very fluid and interesting called "pushing hands of the Dragon form " (Longxing Bagua Tuishou). In the years of Beijing he was friend of the famous teachers Sun Lutang and Yang Chengfu from which he learned the respective styles of Taiji, developing subsequently a form of it ,a kind  of very-bagua-flavoured  Sun style Taiji and an own version of the style Yang.

His child Fu Yonghui continued the art of family, creating in the years '70 a  gigantic form called Sixiangquan that includes the principal techniques of the Taiji Fu and Sun, the whole Xingyiquan, a mix of the two  Yin and Yang-Bagua forms as well as a section of Liangyi, another beautiful form created by his father mixing Taiji and Bagua. In the school it is very emphasized the  Wudang sword (Taiji jian,Wudang Bagua Feilong Jian, Qixing jian and the two-man exercises   of Wudang sword ) but there is also space for the  Bagua broadsword (Bagua Xuanfeng Dao, "cyclonic  bagua sabre"), for the "eyebrows level staff" (Qi mei gun) and for its "great spear of the Four Directions", Bagua simian da Qiang. The last form systematized by Fu Zhensong was Taiji Shandian Zhang, "The Palms as-the-lightning of the Taiji", that perhaps in different form it had been the second (after thet Chen one) that he had learned from Song Weiyi and that it was not almost taught to anyone. Fortunately Fu Meilan, in 1998, taught me with it.

The  Fu school is very known in China even if diffused mainly in the South (Guangzhou, Hongkong, Macao) and it was made to know in West by the exceptional teacher Bowsim Mark as well as from Johnny Kwong Ming Lee and Lin Chaozhen, all in U.S.A., as well as by Victor Fu in Canada. In China it is still led by teachers as Fu Meilan and Fu Wenlong,  Fu Yonghui's sons.

In Europe, to how much I know, I am the only representative of the school with the full right to the complete teaching,  from when, in the summer of 1998, I have completed its program with the aforesaid Taiji Shandian Zhang.

The school Fu is taught by me as raced apart, separated by the kungfu of Yin Fu or Cheng Tinghua schools. This because it is a really complete school that includes taiji (Sun and Fu), Liangyi, Sixiang, Baguazhang ( Yin,  Yang forms,  Dragon form), Xingyiquan, various weapons (a lot of sword forms ,  two-man sword sets, broadsword, spear, staff), Tuishou, Longxing bagua tuishou and Shaolin. The program particularized by me taught can be read in " Wudang-Fu Zhensong Program."
