FILIPINO FLAG WITH CRESCENT AND STARS
The 4 stars on the flag do represent Sulu, Mindanao, Basilan and Palawan, This interesting flag can be used by the moro fighters during the anti-Japanese guerrilla, it can be an "emergency flag " modified adding the 3 crescents, symbol of the Muslim moros of Mindanao and Sulu, and, of course, symbol of all the Muslim of the world.
Why before 1936 (year of the end of the sun with mythological face, after the Quezon's flag law) moros had used a such particular flag ? Solidarity and support with the Aguinaldo and independentist project ? The goal of Aguinaldo was to unify the Philippines under a republican government, few moro Datus were agree with this project almost the 90% of the moros and the Sultans first wanted an independent State or independent Sultanate for them... . The adoption of the crescent on the moro flags remind us to the period after 1898, before we don't have (until now ) flags and banners with the crescent alone or associate with other symbols.
All the Filipino flags after 1898 are made by different types of cloths (silk, cotton etc.) and have got some graphics differences on the representation of the sun and rays, depending on the fancy or ability of the flag maker but all had the same structure : mythological sun with 8 principal bigger rays, 3 stars ,white triangleand 2 stripes of red and blue.
We must consider that the shade of the flag depends on many factors : weather, sun rain, wind, sea etc..
We think that flag is an old flag , pre-1936 , "restore to live" by the moro people, who added the crescents As a symbols of the common struggle of them with the Filipino and Americans against Japanese.
