Magonio, 91 years old today, is the more faithful spectator of the company
I am a "baistrocchino" ad honorem
One adventurous life: he was
worker, puppeter and actor
Mario Magonio, 91 years old today,
yesterday evening was at the Theatre Politeama to assist
the revue "Cliccate Genova@G8 o G9". the new show of the Baistrocchi
Company.
This is a present that he make to himself from half a century. Magonio live alone in
a house of the historical center, modest as modest he is. In a drawer he
conserves a medals that the Baistrocchi presented to him as a prize for his
fidelity. I never made part of the Baistrocchi because it must be students in the
University and I finished hardly the sixth class of the elementary school....... (continue)

grateful his its autobiography: from the arrival of his family in Genoa from the

Piedimulera (Domodossola) to the current days. A century (or nearly) of events happy,
sad,
dramatic. The author describes his poor infancy in the past, after the dead of the
father
in the first world war, various orphanages,his assumption at the S.Giorgio in 1927
and
he speaks to us about his wedding , his sons, his familiar and his friends.....

Can you imagine something more distant from Internet of the puppets? Or, as the
skeptics say, between the two things there is not so much distance because, at the
end, the network is only a large, inconsistent, virtual theatre? You can think as
you want. But today that is difficult to found puppets and marionnettes in the
public squares, find on web the masks of old times make a strange effect. Also
because the man who governs them has remained faithful to this dream: The Dicember
16th he will be 91 years old. This is last part, that electronics of the history of
Mario Magonio, inventer of Baciccia della Radiccia and of Barudda and founder
of the dialectal Theatre Genoese of Puppets. Yhe
first part of his history, that he narrates in the biography in the network, seems
exited from a book of De Amicis: orphan in most tender age, Magonio passes infancy
in a college of the Artigianelli, where he learns the trade of mechanical laborer....(continue)

..Baciccia, l'ormai
celebre burattino di Mario Magonio, ha dato vita da moltissimi anni alla compagnia
Teatrale La Giostra che si è imposta il compito di tener vive certe tradizioni Genovesi,
anche se le sue commedie sono parlate in italiano perché i bambini possano capire con
facilità.......

....ma la cosa che più mi ha
fatto piacere è stata la possibilità di fare un appello, sia pure nell'emozione del
momento, per la conservazione della tradizione che viene portata avanti da Mario Magonio
con le sue meravigliose Marionette. Altre Regioni hanno gelosamente tramandato tale forma
d'arte popolare e anche la Liguria non deve essere da meno, se la mia premiazione ha
conseguito tale scopo sarò ben più felice d'una volta....
