Santo Niente

The Santo Niente, as a trio in 1994, recorded a demo that went on to make up 90% of their first album, "La Vita È Facile" (Life is easy). A dark, angst ridden album that allowed the burning of many skeletons in the closet of leader Umberto Palazzo. They contributed "Wir sind Partisanen" to the compilation Materiale Resistente and "E Aria" and "Generazioni" to the soundtrack of the teenage film "Jack Frusciante Ë uscito dal gruppo". After many succesful concerts promoting their debut album and with the addition of a guitartist to their now present line up of drums, bass, two guitars and voice the group affronted their second album called Santo Niente or " 'Sei na ru mo 'no wa 'na i " in japanese. The album is a jewel of solid rock that at times verges on a violent punk, at others, its an acoustic reflective rock. The repitition of guitar and bass lines hammers home many simple yet nasty riffs and Umberto is in splendid form wrestling with, and getting over, his past. The group have now been silent for over a year and a half as they put together new songs for their third album.
