1998

Five year of work (at the rate of 350Έ400 hours per year, plus time spent to read books, magazines, look for parts, surfing the net, and so on …), and the end looks far than ever.

Creating a dashboard: first I cut a particle board former, covered with tape and waxed it, then glassed with eight layers of 300 gr/m2 sheet.

Wing filletts.

Left stub wing just glassed.

The blank panel, and the baffled RR front tank, are waiting for receiving more attention from the builder. Soon or later…!

Left aileron just cut from the wing.

Making aileron: 1) anchor nuts floxed to spar; 2) spars floxed and glassed, 3) piano hinge fitted.

Elevator trim:

Trim cut from elevator and inged with an aluminum tube and a carbon fiber rod.

Where should I place all these things?

GPASC motor mount and gascolator, trial fitted with Diehl front undercarriage: there was a gap of Ό", not bad, although I hoped a perfect fit.

(After all these years, I have still to realize that, when buying premade parts, the perfect fit has to be achieved by the builder with hours of hard work.)

The first version of the dashboard, with many holes still to be cut.

As the trotthe and mixture cables were obstructed by the front tank (measure twice …!), at a later date I modified the central console to put them lower.

RR premolded tank:
