SOGGETTO
Come
avvenuto anche in Italia ad opera della Agusta Elicotteri, il Sikorsky
H-3 Sea King è stato prodotto su licenza nel Regno Unito dalla Westland,
prendendo il posto del celebre Wessex in seno alle forze armate di molti
paesi.
Questa
versione è ottimizzata per il soccorso aereo in mare ed equipaggia
numerose basi della RAF lungo le coste britanniche.
Nei
filmati dei telegiornali non è raro vedere questi elicotteri ed
i loro coraggiosi equipaggi impegnati nel salvataggio dei superstiti di
quache naufragio nell'Atlantico o nel Mare del Nord.
IL
MODELLO
Il
kit è il vetusto Airfix nella sua ennesima riedizione, assemblato
per l'importatore italiano di questa ditta e destinato ad essere esposto
in occasione di fiere e manifestazioni di settore, allo scopo di dare un'impressione
del risultato finale ottenibile con questo prodotto.
Pertanto,
non ho apportato nessun miglioramento o correzione allo stampo Airfix.
La
colorazione è interamente applicata a pennello, stendendo del giallo
acrilico Tamiya su un fondo bianco per evitare che trasparisse il colore
grigio della plastica.
Le
decals, peraltro ottime e ricche di dettagli, sono quelle fornite nella
scatola, contribuendo notevolmente a ravvivare uno stampo ormai "decotto"
e tecnicamente superato dalle più recenti realizzazini di Fujimi
e Revell-Germany. |
SUBJECT
Like
happened even in Italy with Agusta Elicotteri, the Sikorsky H-3 Sea King
has been license-built in the UK by Westland, taking the place held by
the popular Wessex within the armed forces of many countries.
This
is a Search and Rescue dedicated version of the Sea King that equips many
RAF bases along the British shores.
It
is not rare to see these helicopters and their brave crews at work in TV
news reports while recovering survivors of some shipwreck in the Atlantic
Ocean or in the North Sea.
MODEL
That's
the old Airfix kit in its umpteenth reissue that I assembled on behalf
of the italian distributor, destined to sample display on fairs and modelling
events in order to give an idea of the final result achieved with their
products.
This
is why I didn't improve o correct at all the Airfix mould.
The
painting is handbrushed with a Tamiya acrylic yellow on a white primer
to prevent the plastic grey from showing through.
Decals
are those supplied in the kit. Good quality and plenty of details helped
much to brighten up an aged and basic mould, technically outmoded by the
more recent products made by Fujimi and Revell-Germany. |
