Gorgor and Tong bought HK$9000 "incense tower" for blessings of their love
"Moon Festival" should mean "union of moon in sky and man on earth" however, lately in pop scene, quite sad to see a lot of couples separated. But there are good examples of perfect couples, like Gorgor and Tong.
Apparently western-styled, yet they also long for blessings from Chinese gods for their everlasting love. They also visit a temple at Sheung Wan and bought incense towers to burn throughout the year for the god's blessing of their love. Hanging from ceiling at the foreground of the temple, daily there are lots of incense towers burning for blessings for their donors, each of these incense towers are of 3 feet tall, inside the tower hangs the name of the donor. It's not too difficult to find Gorgor and Tong's towers.
According to the temple's administrator, Gorgor and Tong are frequent visitors there for 3-4 years. "For many years, they came at the first month of the lunar year, they ignite incense, worship the gods and donate money, Gorgor gave several thousands to buy enough incense towers in the name of himself and Tong to be burnt at the temple throughout the whole year. We then will keep the incense burning daily". Each tower cost HK$120 which can last for 10 days, which means a year will cost HK$4,320. For a couple, it would means nearly $9000. Gorgor and Tong are long term customers. The administrators at the temple are in charge of lighting the incenses, usually taken as a long term blessing from the gods of the temple for all the donors' career, love, household etc. The administrator who had met Gorgor and Tong said he found them both very handsome gentlemen, a very matching couple. "At first we didn't realise that guy was Tong, we just found him very gentle, handsome and very quiet behind Gorgor. We thought he was just an assistant to Gorgor." According to them, Gorgor was very generous, after he bought incense towers, he will donate several thousand dollars more to the temple. He had only one small request, that their incense towers be put together, side by side!
Cheung & Tong know each other since they were poor - they know each other over 36 years. Since 1985, their relationship got deeper and stablised. Since then they've been through a long way for 16 years. All the storms, agony, sufferings were too much for any outsiders to understand. Last May, Gorgor admitted to be bisexual during Time interview in its Asia edition. Gorgor talked about his childhood, being youngest among 10 siblings, he always lived in loneliness. When his 4th brother was dating girls, he was playing Barbie dolls in his room alone. Later in his interview with his previous girlfriend, Mo, Gorgor said if she had agreed to marry him when he proposed to her at the age of 22, his whole life would be completely different. In recent years, Gorgor gradually revealed his relationship with Tong in public. They occasionally appear together in public. In last year's concert he declared his love on stage: " I feel to say "I love you" in Chinese quite uncomfortable, I will only say it in English... If I sing a love song to only one person, I can sing it before I go to bed, and sing it again after the sleep... Together for 16 years, still as sweet as this - getting his audience jealous!
Cheung and Tong jointly hold four companies. By their co. they rent their current home at HK$130,000 per month. Through government records, they have about 9 transactions of properties in recent years and altogether they have a profit of $103 million. This just demonstrate Tong's investment decision is very sharp. Cheung once had highly praised Tong: "my good friend is my financial investment consultant, great help to invest with my earnings!".
