Monica Bellucci was born in 1964 in the Italian village of Citta di
Castello, Umbria. Originally, she pursued a career in legal profession. Her
modeling started not really as a profession but merely to keep up with her
schooling at the University of Perugia - this is where her modeling career
blossomed.
From their place, she moved to Milan, one of Europe’s fashion centers and
landed on Elite Model Management. Going beyond what she was used to do as a
profession, she daringly entered the world of acting and had her debut
screen appearance on television in 1990. After which, she had an American
film debut for the movie Dracula (1992) by Bram Stoker where she played a
role of a topless vampire and what’s more, she was cast in the box-office
hits Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions as the sci-fi vixen, Persephone.
The movie that brought her to the limelight can be accredited to the French
thriller, L’appartement in 1996. For this movie, she won in the French
counterpart of Oscar, César nomination, and proved more of her self as she
gained credits from Under Suspicion (2000), Malèna (2000), and Pacte des
Loups (2001). She was the one chosen for the role of Mina Harker in The
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) but turned it down after realizing
a schedule conflict. The role was later casted by Peta Wilson. With all
the credits she got from acting, most can be accounted for her Italian
projects.
Her projects featured working for Dolce & Gabbana in a black & white TV
advertisement to which Giuseppe Tornatore was the director, same director
for the film Milena. She made her daring appearance for Max in 1998 where
she appeared nude and for GQ in 2000, both an Italian magazine.
This gorgeous woman is married to Vincent Cassel to whom she has a child.
