DUB STATION &
SONBEAM 'GET IT TOGETHER'
Dub
Station is the number one dancehall reggae backing band in the Boston Area
and undoubtely one of the most important in the US reggae scene. They have
backed jamaican legends like Junior Kelly, Frankie Paul and Everton
Blender and have opened concerts for many many others; for this studio
work, entitled 'Get it Togheter' they join forces with jamaican sing-jay
Sonbeam (another very interesting vocalist of their rich entourage). The
riddims shocased on this album are a very good example of US-produced
dancehall and are all well varied and range from roots to dancehall with
some injections of RB and Hip Hop fragrances. The production here is very
good and the vibes are nice with this formerly almost unknown singjay
revealing himself as a very evocative
voice with an original and recognizable style of combining both
singing and deejay. A sort of
'Freddie McGregor-meets Anthony B' style, very very tuff. Every
track is a success with 'Center of attraction' and 'Rastafari Love' - a
nyabinghi tune which showcases another interesting vocalist, Jah I - as
the gems. A fresh and very enjoyable production even if a bit too short (only
seven tracks).
