PETER TOSH
'Talking Revolution'
The 11th of September of 18 years ago Peter Tosh, the international icon
of the militant reggae, died brutally murdered in his house in Jamaica.
That evening, the obscurantism and the arrogance of hidden powers
took end to the life of a voice that had always raises against the
oppression of the black and of the other people.
Peter Tosh, was actually a revolutionary leader.
For this reason, the robbery as motive for his tragic end never
convinced no one. But the' friend/rival of Bob Marley was also and above all an
exceptional composer, musician and singer.
And it is actual with the objective to emphasize his gift of
artist that the label Pressure Sounds wanted to dedicate a double cd box
set to the man known as 'The Stepping Razor' .
Arrogant, ambitious and brilliant in its shining sight of the
social reality, Peter Tosh left an enormous musical and cultural
inheritance that has done a big part not only in the reggae, but also in
the American militant hip Hop. For
these reasons we can say that 'Talking Revolution', represents perhaps
the best compilation ever dedicated to Peter.
In the first disk you will find the complete record of his
apparition to the renowed One Love Peace Concert of 1978.
That evening to Kingston, with the purpose to celebrate the peace
between the gang manoeuvred from the rival politicians, the main reggae
stars of the island got the occasion of to play in front to a public for
them unusual, composed also from politicians and people of the 'middle
class'. And it was so that
while Bob Marley made the two political leader of the country join their
hands on stage, Peter Tosh used better words addressed to them.
Before giving life to what for a lot is his most live intense
exhibition, the musician reproached to the two politricksters all the
made promises to the people of Jamaica and ever maintained and accused
them to be some pirates, actual like the captain Morgan and Francis
Drake. 'The peace is the
diploma than you will get on the grave - Tosh thundered -…here lies
John Strokes. Rest in
PEACE'. 'Talking Revolution' contains not only the songs played that
evening, but also all of the speech with which Tosh burnt the public.
But like already indicated Peter was also a large composer.
Deservedly so the second cd contains the records of pieces that
the musician reggae carried in turn alone with the aid of its guitar in
the studies of the American radio where was host.
These acoustic records, intense and melancholy, give back obvious
where have found the inspiration even people like Quite Harper and
Willie Nelson. And excused
if it is little.
