PRINCE ALLA
'More Love'
The
great and mythical roots singer Prince Alla (true name Keith Blake) is
living likely the happiest season of his artistic areer. Entered
in the history of the reggae for its jamaican masterpieces of the
seventies produced by Tappa Zukie and by Freedom Sounds, work for which he
never received the adequate remunerations, is just to underline it, the
good one Alla instead found in England his
real fortune: a reprint of success of its old pieces on the Blood and Fire
label, the album for the Disciples and above all two albums for
Jah Warrior ('Glory' and just this 'More
Love'). Resulted: Alla it is
today more in shape than ever and this fine work shows it. The style of Jah Warrior (Steve Mosco)- is commonly known,
but is timely to remember it - is perfect in line with the tradition of
digi-English roots, so you expect strong rhythmic hard steppers like the
steel and weighing like the lead, a true delight for the ears of who, like
the signed, is fascinated by
the new roots produced in UK. The
communion between old school (the voice of Alla) and new school (the
riddims of Jah Warrior) is - like in all the productions of Steve Mosco,
between the other - explosive, even if ears gotten used anly a little to
these sounds, to the long one could get tired themselves.
It presses me to underline the presence, now usual for the disks of
Jah Warrior, of the splendid breaths of the Crispy Horns that with their
interventions enrich in decisive manner the instrumental appearance of the
disk. It complete the line up
of the musicians people like the usual and faithful Hugie Izachaar, Jonah
Dan, and Jerry Lions of the band of the Twinkle Brothers.
Advised.
