Fast SCSI-II DMA Controller for the BLIZZARD 1260 Turbo Board

The BLIZZARD SCSI-Kit IV is a fast SCSI-II DMA controller which allows the instant access to a large variety of SCSI-I and SCSI-II devices available on the market. Its 32-Bit DMA engine transfers up to 10 MBytes/sec. with up to 80% free CPU time, defining a new performance dimension for an A1200 expansion. A second SIMM socket allows the memory on the BLIZZARD accelerator to be expanded by up to 128 MBytes. These features make the BLIZZARD SCSI-Kit IV ideally suited for all High End applications on the AMIGA 1200.

• Transmission rates up to seven Mbytes/sec. asynchronous and up to ten Mbytes/sec. synchronous on the SCSI-bus.

• Comprehensive software including the dynamic caching software DynamiCache and the CD-ROM file system CDrive facilitates working with slower SCSI devices and allows immediate connection of CD-ROMs.

• The controller is some STATE OF THE ART, but the software driver on OLDER models is NOT! In fact the device (1230scsi.device) has problems with removable devices that are not CD-ROMs like ZIP and JAZ disks. The problem is a SCSI BUS LOCKUP when you insert a disk. No problems, just matter of a reset, but it's annoying. Also there are problems with the handling of digital audio data on the scsi bus.
  Luckly you can find an update of the device at ftp.phase5.de/pub/phase5/scsi/, the last version is 8.5.There is only a problem, you should burn an EPROM and put it somewhere in the card.

  This program loads in RAM the newer 1230scsi.device and make possible to use it!

• The Scsi Kit does ACCEPT double sided simms.
• The check of the SCSI devices on a cold boot takes a second or two since version 1.8 or earlier.
• Jaz and Zip disks work flawless with v8.1 ROM or later
• Digital Audio trought SCSI works with v8.1 ROM or later
• During the installation, when prompted, choose to install Blizzard 1230-I/II/III/IV software, it's the same also for the 1260.
• Users report that SURFSQUIRREL works with the SCSI KIT IV installed. (But with the last version of the 1230scsi.device)
