INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS OF THE VAL TIDONE

 

 

Rules applicable to all competitions

 

- I - The International Music Competitions of the Val Tidone are opened to musicians from any Nation.

- II - Travel and accommodation expenses are at the expense of participants. Special conditions are foreseen for the musicians in the selected Hotels.

- III - The International Music Competitions of the Val Tidone are five:

  1. "Comune di Pianello Val Tidone" Young Talents Musical Interpretation Competition (Sections: Piano, Accordion and Chamber Music)
  2. "Silvio Bengalli" Piano Prize
  3. "Carlo Civardi" Classical Accordion Prize
  4. "Contessa Tina Orsi Anguissola Scotti" Chamber Music Prize
  5. "Egidio Carella" Composition Competition

- IV - Registration, to be written on plain paper as on the attached form (to publish in the next days), must be sent to Segreteria dei Concorsi Internazionali della Val Tidone - Comune di Pianello Val Tidone - Largo Dal Verme, 54 - 29010 Pianello Val Tidone (PC) - ITALY no later than May 2001, 5th (verified through the postmarking).

The scores of the participants in the Composition Competition must be sent by the same date.

The candidates must include the following documents:

Registrations that present formal errors will be excluded.

The non-refundable registration fees are as follows:

"Comune di Pianello Val Tidone" Young Talents Musical Interpretation Competition

"Silvio Bengalli" Piano Prize and "Carlo Civardi" Accordion Prize

"Contessa Tina Orsi Anguissola Scotti" Chamber Music Prize

"Egidio Carella" Composition Competition

Entrants must pay by Bank System - Current Account no. 4538/1 (from Italy: cod. ABI 06070 - cod. CAB 48190; form abroad: SWIFT CODE CARI IT MF 866), registered to Associazione Culturale "Tetracordo", opened c/o Cariplo - Filiale di Castelnuovo Scrivia (AL).

Overseas entrants must pay also by an International Postal Order, registered to Associazione Culturale "Tetracordo" - c/o Livio Bollani - Via Martiri Partigiani, 38 - 27049 Stradella (PV).

Any participant may enrol in more than one Category, Section, Competition, or send more scores to the International Competitions of the Val Tidone, paying for the relative registrations.

 

- V - The juries will be formed by great musicians.

If a candidate has had a public didactic relationship during the last two years with a member of the jury, this member will abstain from the voting the musician: on the minutes it will be made mention of this abstention.

- VI - Of any act of the jury will be drawn up the minutes subscribed by President. The minutes are public and they may be examined in the Secretariat.

The decision of the juries, in any case final and unappealable, will be expressed in hundredths, as arithmetic mean of the single votes, with exclusion of the highest and the lowest vote if the juries members are at least five. Concerning the Prizes divided in two Rounds, in the Eliminatory trial the jury will give only a judgement of suitableness to the Final.

The juries can reserve the right to grant prizes ex-aequo or to not allot prizes, in the case that the required requisites are not found in the candidate.

The Special Prize mentioned in the "Silvio Bengalli Prize", "Carlo Civardi Prize" and "Contessa Tina Orsi Anguissola Scotti Prize" is sole and it will be divided in equal parts if there are many participants that will obtain at least 99/100.

The monetary prizes are subject to tax by law.

- VII - Each competitor must present himself in the Pianello Val Tidone Town Hall, with an identity paper, on the day and hour assigned to him by the Organization. The calendar of the International Competitions of the Val Tidone will be known from May, 21th, and can be requested to the Artistic Director.

- VIII - All the auditions are public.

Two copies of the pieces performed must be presented to the jury at the beginning of the audition. The jury can stop the performance, in case the competitor exceed the maximum duration. The jury can listen to the competitors again to give the vote.

For any Competition, the Organization will provide one piano and the music stands. In addition, at least one rehearsal room will be set up, in which there will be a second piano.

- IX - The winners of the International Competitions of the Val Tidone are obliged, under pain of losing the prize, to participate in the evening gala to be held at the Rocca d'Olgisio on Sunday, the 10th of June, 2001, at 9 in the evening.

The Artistic Director can give the prizes to the non-absolute First Classified, to the Second and the Third Classified at the end of the audition day. Besides, he can organize a gala for the Young Talents Competition winners to be held in Pianello Val Tidone on Sunday, the 10th of June 2001, in the afternoon.

In any moment it is possible to collect the Participation Diplomas.

- X - Participation in the International Music Competitions of the Val Tidone implies the complete acceptance of these rules. All problems regarding the interpretation of the Proclamation are delegated to the Artistic Director.

In the event of any controversy the original Italian text only is legally binding.

 

 


Rules of the individual Competitions


"Comune di Pianello Val Tidone"
Young Talents Musical Interpretation Competition

 

Art.1 The "Comune di Pianello Val Tidone" Young Talents Musical Interpretation Competition is reserved to the students born after 1/1/1975; it includes three Sections: Piano, Accordion and Chamber Music (free groups from 2 to 7 members).

Art.2 The following Categories are foreseen for the Piano Section:

CAT. "FREE" - Young musicians born after 1/1/1981 that study music at maximum since two years

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 3 minutes

CAT. A - Young musicians born after 1/1/1990

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 5 minutes

CAT. B - Young musicians born after 1/1/1986

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 9 minutes

CAT. C - Young musicians born after 1/1/1982

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 13 minutes

CAT. D - Young musicians born after 1/1/1976

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 17 minutes

Art.3 In addition to the prize mentioned in art.8, for the Piano Section are foreseen the following scholarships:

 

Art.4 The following categories are foreseen for the Accordion Section:

CAT. "FREE" - Young musicians born after 1/1/1981 that study music at maximum since two years

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 3 minutes

CAT. A - Young musicians born after 1/1/1990

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 5 minutes

CAT. B - Young musicians born after 1/1/1986

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 9 minutes

CAT. C -Young musicians born after 1/1/1982

Program of your choice with a max. duration of 13 minutes

CAT. D - Young musicians born after 1/1/1976

Program of your choice with a max. duration of 17 minutes

CAT. E - Varietè for accordionists born after 1-1-1979

Program of your choice with a max. duration of 10 minutes

CAT. E - Varietè for accordionists without age limits

Program of your choice with a max. duration of 15 minutes

Art.5 In addition to the prize mentioned in art.8, for the Accordion Section are foreseen the following scholarships:

If you have problems to find the pieces mentioned in art's 3 and 5, you can ask them to the Artistic Director

Art.6 The following categories are foreseen for the Chamber Music Section:

CAT. A - Young musicians from the inferior course

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 8 minutes

CAT. B - Young musicians from the medium-superior course

Program of your choice with a max. duration of 15 minutes

Art.7 In addition to the prize mentioned in art.8, for the Chamber Music Section are foreseen the following scholarships:

Art.8 The prizes of the Competition of musical interpretation "Comune di Pianello Val Tidone" will be the following:

1st CLASS. (95-100 points) - Cup and Diploma for 1st Prize

2nd CLASS.(90-94 points) - Shield and Diploma for 2nd Prize

3rd CLASS.(80-89 points) - Medal and Diploma for 3rd Prize

Participation Diploma for all the competitors.

 


"Silvio Bengalli" Piano Prize

Art.1 The "Silvio Bengalli" Piano Prize is reserved to all the musicians born after 1/1/1964

Art.2 The "Silvio Bengalli" Piano Prize has an Eliminatory Round and a Final Round.

- Eliminatory Round -

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 15 minutes, including at least one study chosen between the following composers: Chopin, Rachmaninov, Skriabin, Liszt, Saint-Säe-ns, Ljapunov, Alkan, Moszkovski, Prokofiev, Bartok, Stravinskij, Debussy, Casella, Messiaen, Ligeti

- Final Round -

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 45 minutes, including at least one important piece by composer born from 1800 onwards

Art.3 The three participants with the highest points, in any case respectively not lower than 95/100, 90/100 and 85/100, will be considered First, Second and Third Classified. The Prizes will be the following:

1° Class. - Lit. 2.000.000 + "Prof. Ettore Bonfatti Sabbioni" Prize worth Lit. 500.000, Shield, Diploma and two concerts in seats chosen by the Artistic Director among the ones indicated at the end of this Proclamation + Special Prize of Lit. 1.000.000 if the points will be at least 99/100

2° Class. - Lit. 800.000, Shield and Diploma

3° Class. - Lit. 400.000, Shield and Diploma

The First Classified in the past edition cannot participate.

 


"Carlo Civardi"
Classical Accordion Prize

Art.1 The "Carlo Civardi" Prize is opened to all the accordionists born after 1/1/1964.

Art.2 The "Carlo Civardi" Accordion Prize has an Eliminatory Round and a Final Round.

- Eliminatory Round

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 15 minutes, including at least one piece from the clavier repertoire

- Final Round

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 30 minutes, including at least one composition of contemporary musician

Art.3 The three participants with the highest points, in any case respectively not lower than 95/100, 90/100 and 85/100, will be considered First, Second and Third Classified.
For the Classical Section the Prizes will be the following:

1° Class. - Lit. 2.000.000, Shield, Diploma and one concert in seat chosen by the Artistic Director among the ones indicated at the end of this Proclamation + Special Prize of Lit. 1.000.000 if the points will be at least 99/100

2° Class. - Lit. 800.000, Shield and Diploma

3° Class. - Lit. 400.000, Shield and Diploma

 

The First Classified in the past edition cannot participate.

 


"Contessa Tina Orsi Anguissola Scotti"
Chamber Music Prize (from 2 to 7 components)

Art.1 The "Contessa Tina Orsi Anguissola Scotti" Prize is reserved to the groups until 38 ages (it will considered the components medium age).

Art.2 The "Contessa Tina Orsi Anguissola Scotti" Prize has an Eliminatory Round and a Final Round.

- Eliminatory Round -

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 15 minutes

- Final Round -

Program of your choice with a maximum duration of 30 minutes, including at least one important piece by composer born from 1800 onwards

Art.3 The three participants with the highest points, in any case respectively not lower than 95/100, 90/100 and 85/100, will be considered First, Second and Third Classified. The Prizes will be the following:

1° Class. - Lit. 2.000.000, Shield, Diploma and two concerts in seats chosen by the Artistic Director among the ones indicated at the end of this Proclamation + Special Prize of Lit. 1.000.000 if the points will be at least 99/100

2° Class. - Lit. 800.000, Shield and Diploma

3° Class. - Lit. 400.000, Shield and Diploma

The Organization will pay the sleeping expenses in a conventionalized Hotel from the last day of auditions until June, 3rd, to the members of the group First Classified that live in a city at least 300 km distant from Pianello Val Tidone.

The First Classified in the past edition cannot participate.

 


"Egidio Carella"
Composition Competition

Art.1 Participants in the "Egidio Carella" Composition Competition must send an envelope containing:

Art.2 The Secretariat of the "Egidio Carella" Composition Competition will communicate the results to the winners Tuesday, the 12th of June. The same results will be notified to all the participants within July 2001, 15th.

Art.3 The following prizes will be grant:

1st CLASS. - Diploma for 1st Prize, scholarship worth Lit. 750.000, publication of the composition by Casa Editrice BERBEN (Ancona - Italy) and performance (except eventual technical problems) in Reggio Emilia

2nd CLASS. - Diploma for 2nd Prize and free assignment of a short piece for piano or accordion; this piece will be published by Casa Editrice BERBEN (Ancona - Italy) with prior stipulation of agreements, and inserted amongst the pieces imposed in the 2001 edition of the "Comune di Pianello Val Tidone" Competition

3rd CLASS. - Diploma for 3rd Prize and Shield
