BECOMING A GREEN MAN..

Frank Edwin Wright III was born December 9, 1972 in Frankfurt, Germany, making him the youngest member of Green Day. Despite having parents from America, his family was living in Germany at the time, as his father was a pilot stationed there by the U.S. Military. When his father finished his service, the family moved to Laytonville, California where Tré grew up, near the Mendocino mountains with his two siblings. Tré started learning to play the violin when he was nine years old, but “no noise came out that sounded good, so I kind of gave it up”. His dad built many houses including Lawrance Livermore's house, his closest neighbor, the founder of Green Day's original label, Lookout! Records. At age 12, Livermore asked him to play drums for his punk band,"The Lookout". As with band tradition, every member had to have a stage name, so Livermore gave him the name Tré Cool (meaning "very cool" in French). When Tre first took drum lessons from one of his neighbours, the guy would not let him have any cymbals. Just so he could get better on his drum skills! Than after he quit going to its drum lessons, he stole cymbals from a local music store and used them like there was no tomorrow. Anyway they recorded an album, and began attend regularly at Berkeley's punk club. Tre known Green Day from the Gilman Street scene and he helped Al Sobrante with drum lessons. In 1990, when Al Sobrante (John Kiffmeyer), the drummer on Green Day's debut 39/Smooth, left the band for college, Billie and Mike recruited Tre in their band and the band Green Day was born. Tre decided to drop out of high school his sophomore year. However, he did pass an equivalency test and earned his GED, and he even began taking classes at a nearby community college. He had to drop out of college however, when the demands of Green Day's touring intensified. Tré 's first album with Green Day was 1992's Kerplunk!. Tre's father, who owns a small trucking company, overhauled a used bookmobile, and even served as the driver on three seperate tours. "I watched them go from a bunch of kids to a group of musicians with work eithic," says Tre's father, Frank Wright. "On their first tour or two, it was more of a party than anything else. I still scratch my head and say, 'How in the hell did they make it?' They used to practice in my living room here -- a lot of the songs they did on Dookie. You hear it coming together, and you don't expect people are going to go out and buy it. But when it does, you just say, 'Wow, that's so cool.'" In 1995, Tre and his long time girlfriend, Lisea Lyons, had a daughter named Ramona in January, who is named after his idol, Joey Ramone. In March that same year, the couple got married, but divorced in 1996. They are apparently still on good terms. In March 2000 Tre married again, with Claudia and they spent two weeks on their Honey moon. In 2001 they have a son, Frankito. They divorced in 2003 but Tre still lives with them because they want to raise Frankito right. Recently, Tre had a feeling with Donna C. (The Donnas), however they are no longer together.
