Una parete in legno di 40 mm. ha uguale resistenza termica di una parete di mattoni semipieni di 240 mm. La resa termica è elevata e permette notevoli risparmi energetici: grazie all'inerzia termica del legno, si evitano bruschi sbalzi e si mantengono temperature gradevoli in ogni stagione. Il potere isolante di una casa in legno è tale da far risparmiare circa il 50% sui costi di riscaldamento di un'abitazione con sistema tradizionale. Il basso consumo energetico, ovvero inferiore a 70 kWh / mq / anno è facilmente raggiungibile con la realizzazione in legnoL'isolamento acustico è eccellente. Una parete dello spessore di 9 cm ha un coefficiente di riduzione del rumore R'w = 50dB. Per ottenere lo stesso coefficiente con mattoni forati è necessaria una parete con spessore 25-30 cm.

Il coefficiente di trasmissione termica (fattore
K) risulta essere di 1 a 6 in rapporto ai tradizionali materiali per edilizia,
in altri termini, una parete in legno spessa 5cm isola come un muro in mattoni
da 35cm; infatti si può arrivare a risparmiare sino al 40% per mantenere calde
ed accoglienti le nostre case.
Questo è un particolare da tenere in considerazione allorquando si decida di
elaborare un progetto di casa in legno, onde evitare l'utilizzo di spessori
sproporzionati.
In Canada e Stati Uniti la cultura del legno in edilizia è
bicentenaria
Le pareti sia esterne che interne fanno parte integrante della struttura
portante e ne caratterizzano l'elevato potere di resistenza alle scosse
sismiche.
Per la realizzazione delle nostre case
prefabbricate, utilizziamo il Picea Abies, normalmente chiamato abete
rosso, noto anche per la Pece di Borgogna,unguento medicamentoso antisettico
e balsamico, ricavato dalla sua resina.
Il legno viene selezionato all'origine, lavorando solo tronchi con nodi
lignei sani in modo da evitare la "stappatura"degli stessi nell'arco
del tempo.
Le tavole vengono successivamente essiccate fino al raggiungimento degli
standard europei, intorno al 12\15% di umidità. Si procede poi a successivi
trattamenti del legno ove necessario, con sostanze fungicide e battericide.
