Fu dovuto ad un casuale incontro che Pabst comprese di aver perso inutilmente il tempo facendo la scelta delle candidate, giacché Louise Brooks, la famosa “stella” della Paramount era proprio quella che egli andava cercando: cioè la più ideale, la più perfetta incarnazione dell’interessantissimo tipo della protagonista del dramma di Wedekind. Inoltrata formale richiesta agli studi Paramount, questi “cedettero” gentilmente l’artista al “metteur” tedesco, e Louise Brooks girò La caja de Pandora, raggiungendo la vetta più alta della sua brillante carriera artistica" |

Pandora, ha encontrado el director Pabst un asunto dramático para mostrar
a Louise Brooks en una heroína protagonista.
La Brooks alcanzó en la cinematografía norteamericana un prestigio
discreto. Los tipos de 'flapper', de muchacha frívola y coqueta, muy a la
moderna, tuvieron en ella la animadora graciosa y vivaracha. Pero no llegó
a papeles de 'strella' absoluta, consagración definitiva de Hollywood.
Viósela, es certo, en películas como El crimen de la canaria, encarnando
el personaje central, de exiguas proporciones. De ahí que se confiase que
el trasplante a los studios europeos revelara en ella , con las nuevas
orientaciones, evidentes progresos. |
