Some visual aids to help observer orientation.

To help the user to orient the observer should be useful the addiction of other reference systems.

Description:

Actually there is only one reference system that has a visual aid the "celestial grid".

Other celestial grids corresponding to other reference systems should be used:

• galactic plane;

• solar system plane;

• longitude and latitude for the selected body;

Grid with different colors should be displayed for each reference system.

On body surfaces a longitude/latitude grid should be displayed on the ground as shown in the following figure.

On the ground of the planets (specially on Earth) another reference grid should be displayed: the alt/dec that is used for the orientation and tracking of telescopes. This grid should be displayed automatically if the telescope mode is implemented (see FR9) and should be updated if the FOV is changed. In this mode selecting an object should be possible to display its alt/dec coordinates without exiting from the telescope mode.
