Celestia Feature requests: Group 5 FR27 Collision detection |
A basic collision detection for the observer. Is requested the capability of avoiding to travel trough the bodies when the user moves the observer.
Description: Actually if a body is on the path that Celestia generates for the observer when a Goto command is entered by the user, the observer passes trough it with a very ugly effect.
This occurs often when the observer is very close to a large body and the user selects another object placed on the other side like a satellite or a location.
Is requested to Celestia to calculate a path for the observer that during the travel avoids to pass through the bodies (because are solid!). See the following figure.
Another request is related to locations or ground activities performed by the user. If the observer is placed on the surface of a body (for example after a Goto long/lat command) any movement should consider that is not possible to penetrate the surface even if another body is selected. This last feature should be problematic for irregular bodies like asteroids.
