Slippers S.r.l. designs and produces sealing
systems, meeting a large range of industrial fields.
We have been involved in the development of a methodology
to automatically calculate the oiltightness of seals.
CAD SolidWorks and the integrated finite element system
COSMOSWorks were used to develop this methodology. Starting
from the material's viscoelastic characteristic and
the geometry of the undeformed seal, it was possible
to simulate its compression when inserted in its seat.
The evaluation of compression tensions caused, especially
the pressures between the lip and the seat, made it
possible to verify the correspondence between the seal
and the use specifics.
